District Elections

On November 4, 2019, the Board of Fire Commissioners passed a resolution authorizing the annual election change from the third Saturday in February to the date of the November general election (the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November), as permitted by P.L. 2017, c.206.

As a result there is no public vote on the fire district budget, unless there is referendum to exceed the 2% levy cap or to release restricted fund balances. in which case, the public vote would be held on the third Saturday in February. A public vote it also required for borrowing, for which a question would be placed on the ballot in November.

The Board of Fire Commissioners consists of five (5) members, who server staggered 3 year terms. Terms expire at 12 Noon on the first Tuesday in December. Nominating petitions to run for a commissioner position must be submitted to the County Clerk's office by the last Monday of July.
