The Board of Fire Commissioners of Plumsted Township Fire District #1. herein referred to as the Board, has established a goal to provide the best fire protection possible to residents and those who work and travel in the fire district. This protection is financed by the taxpayers of Plumsted. Every effort will be made to provide service in a cost-effective manner.

Fire Prevention is the first step in providing safety for our residents and businesses. The mission of education, inspection and enforcement is provided by the Bureau of Fire Prevention. The Board supports and staffs this important program, so that hazards leading to fires can be eliminated.

The Board contracts with New Egypt Volunteer Fire Company for the use of their building and volunteer personnel in providing fire services. The Board also employs career staff that work a rotating three platoon system Monday to Friday, 6am to 6pm and are supervised by a Chief and two Captains. Daily assignments of the career staff include fire suppression, rescue and first responder EMS, fire inspection and prevention, maintenance of equipment and other duties. Career fire fighters are certified Emergency Medical Technicians )EMT's) and are trained in CPR and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) use. They respond to first aid calls such as difficulty breathing, chest pains, severe bleeding and other medical emergencies. Our fire fighters have been cross trained as first responders since the early 1990's and continually train to maintain EMT credentials.

All information is available 24 hours each day for public view on this website. The website's compliance is checked and verified at least annually by the board of fire commissioners, the fire chief, the accountant, and the website manager.
